Bishop Philip Huggins: Anglican Diocese of Melbourne
Bishop Philip Huggins was educated at Monash University and ordained in 1977. He has held clerical appointments in regional Victoria, metropolitan Melbourne, and appointments of Assistant Bishop in Perth and Bishop of Grafton, NSW. Currently, he is a Bishop in the Anglican Church of Australia and in the Diocese of regional Melbourne since 2004.
Bishop Philip returned to Melbourne in 2003, after about ten years interstate , taking up the appointments of Incumbent of St Stephen’s Richmond and Bishop to the Northern Region. In 2007 the region was extended to include over 70 parishes in both the Northern and Western region of Melbourne and Geelong.
Bishop Philip is Chair of Board of Brotherhood of St Laurence, President of Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School, and Board Member of St Lawrence Community Services, Overnewton Anglican Community College, Executive member of the National Council of Churches of Australia, and Member of Christian World Service Commission. He has Episcopal oversight of Cross-Cultural Ministry.
Bishop Philip has a strong interest in and actively contributes to welfare and multi-cultural issues and activities. Bishop Philip tries to hold together both contemplation and action, in the Spirit of Jesus.
